Task 1

Winner: IBM Research, Tokyo Research Laboratory Team, Japan.
Members: Hisashi Kashima, Shoko Suzuki, Shohei Hido, Yuta Tsuboi, Toshihiro Takahashi, Tsuyoshi Ide, Rikiya Takahashi, and Akira Tajima.

First Runner up: Yuichi Katori, University of Tokyo and JST, Japan.

Second Runner up: d-cup Team.

Task 2

Winner: Feng Guo, Machine Learning Center, Hebei University, China.

First Runner up: MCT.ICT Team.

IEEE ICDM Data Mining Contest (ICDM DMC 2007)

The IEEE ICDM Data Mining Contest (ICDM DMC) is set up to meet the challenges of novel, difficult and high-impact real world data mining problems. We strive to make this contest series an important part of the IEEE ICDM Conference in the future.

This year's inaugural contest proposes a location-estimation problem in an indoor wireless network environment. The problem is to accurately predict a mobile user's locations from the received radio signal strength values in a wireless environment.
